The three novels below meld together many of the ideas presented in essays on this site. They constitute The “JB Trilogy “(given protagonists John Bradford, Jason Baudelaire, & Jake Bronson). Each novel provides a different take on the interplay between love, insufficient sex education, and science . You won’t find that interesting combination anywhere else!
Getting information about sex was particularly challenging in California’s conservative, even priggish, Orange County in the 1950’s. But in 1954, a small group of Newport Beach teenagers decided to take sex education into their own hands. Literally. They learned how each other’s bodies worked, and while carefully staying virgins, how mutual pleasuring has to be based on mutual respect. As they grow up, fall in and out of love, and begin their adult lives, the bonds and knowledge acquired during their “sex school” experiences permeate all their decisions. (Contact Author)
The Odyssey of Jason Baudelaire:The young Jason Baudelaire just wanted to become a naturalist studying birds. What started out as a benign fantasy morphed into an increasingly challenging odyssey in which he found himself crawling through slimy caves in the Caribbean and dodging some of the world’s most dangerous viruses in equatorial Africa. At the same time, he endured a parallel odyssey as he tried to find the right soulmate as his life’s partner.
The Old Folks’ Sex School: Jake Bronson, a recently divorced older man, joins a senior community. Adjusting to this different world proves challenging. People he meets have different perspectives on life and death, and he slowly finds himself changing his own views,But it was a trip to Africa with fellow members of the community that really changed his goals and perspectives.. Back at the community. he and another resident try to make up for the past. Things prove more complicated than they expected…
